Method 1. Using the System Configuration Tool
To do this:
- Press Windows + R keys simultaneously
- Type msconfig in the text box that opens and press the Enter key
- In the System Configuration window, click on the Boot tab then select "safe mode"and click OK
- Windows tells you that you need to reboot you PC for the settings to take effect. You can click "Exit without rebooting" for settings to affect later otherwise click "Restart now" to boot into safe mode immediately. When it restarts,
it will not directly into safe mode.

Method 2. Using the “Shift + Restart” combination
This method comes in very handy when you can't access the desktop. To do this, follow the following steps:
- From the sign in screen, click on the power button
- While pressing the shift key, click on Restart
* This can be done from the start menu as well
The PC reboots and asks you to select an option.
- Choose Troubleshoot.
- On the Troubleshoot screen, select Advanced Options, then choose Startup Settings
- Windows 10 tells you you can restart your device to change advanced boot options, including enabling Safe Mode.
- You then click Restart
- After it reboots, you choose the desired safe mode you want as prompted
Method 3: Force the Windows Recovery screen to pop up
This method those not require the system to boot completely. How to go about this:
-If your PC is off, press the power button to turn on otherwise restart the PC and just after it loads the BIOS and starts loading Windows, press and hold the power button till the computer goes off
- Repeat this more 2 or more times times until you see the Preparing Automatic Repair then wait for Windows to diagnose your PC.
- Click Advanced options, then the Windows RE (Recovery environment) screen will appear
- From the Windows RE screen, click Troubleshoot.
- Select Advanced options
- Click Startup Settings to continue
- Click Restart. The PC restarts and another screen opens showing a list of different startup options.
- Press the 4 number key to enter Safe Mode without network if no networking stuff is required otherwise press the 5 number key to select date mode with networking
